I know what my motives were and that the energy behind both the book and the play was love. If the book had come out at the same time as the play as Michael Wood had promised it would it wouldn't seem that I was bouncing back demanding whatever it is you think I'm doing. I can cope with the insults, I have had them all my adult life, the sadness comes in thinking that people who don't know me might have their opinions informed by your very witty and damning words. Your critisisms are unfounded and with the references to my appearance, mean and small minded. I have no idea who you are but I think, like Marlowe, you need a bloody good cuddle. Who will join me in hugging these two bitter men?I rest easy tonight because I know your accusations say much more about you than me, and if you had attended the launch of the book you would know that the final part of my speach was a wish for the assembled guests to join me in raising our glasses to the missing guest of honour: Robert Lenkiewicz. Good night. xx

Good to see users of this site so enthusiastically pursuing the aim of promoting Robert and extending our common knowledge of his work. How often have we been here before and how much more of this do we need? Is there really nothing else anyone has got to say at the moment apart from abuse and insult – how does any of this further the stated aims of the site? Instead of widening interest in Robert's work comments like this, appearing on the only active website devoted to his work, do nothing to engage or stimulate. I sadly never knew Robert so cannot say anything about “What Robert would have wanted”, but I can make an intellegent guess as to what he wouldn't have wanted, and I do not think he would have found the current use of the site honours his memory. If this is the best we can do as enthusiasts for Robert's work then perhaps he would be better served if we did nothing at all and left the work to speak for itself.Don't feel obliged to reply - I am so disillusioned that I have stopped checking the site

Hi Jojo,I've been looking at the website for years and years. And I have to say that there seem to be a lot of people logging on with an agenda or some personal gripe.Don't sink to their level.I never met Robert. Most of us haven't. So for those of us in this epoch and for centuries to come it is important to gather as much information as possible about the artist/subjects...for example, if it wasn't for Van Gogh's letters to Theo how much of the references to that artist's life and work would have been conjectural in its context.I haven't seen your book yet, but by the accounts so far it has received alot of praise. Personally, if Robert would have approved of it or not isn't the point...and if you have made or lost money, again that is not the point, as the book is the most important aspect of the discussion. It's effectively a reference from the sitter, not from Robert's point of view, it allows comparisons and contrasts and ultimately will be viewed in years to come as an interesting insight into the life of the artist. You should be praised for taking the time to contact, photograph and manage a very lengthy and time consuming project. If Robert's work is to finally get the praise it deserves it may just be the Jojo's of the world which get him noticed. Here are a few quotes from individuals who shone brighter in our civilisation than certain members of our forum:---Do what you feel in your heart to be right. You'll be criticized anyway.Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962) American columnist, lecturer and humanitarian.---It is much easier to be critical than to be correct.Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) British politician and author.---If you believe in what you are doing, then let nothing hold you up in your work. Much of the best work of the world has been done against seeming impossibilities. The thing is to get the work done.Dale Carnegie (1888-1955) American writer.---and finally...Those who can -- do. Those who can't -- criticize.Unknown Source---Enjoy your day.

what a bloody nice thing to say. Thank you very much. It was made all the sweeter because on the way home I bumped into DOC who knew Robert very well and saw him at least three times a week from the 1960's until Robert's death. To get his encouragement and then yours: someone who knew him intimately and someone who never met him: Two extreemes, fantastic! Riding high on the euphoria I can let the world know I am working on releasing the script of the play I created based on Robert's life. It will be available in a week or two and I'll have more details soon. As well as the words there will be photographs of the production. After that I shall draw a line under my relationship with Robert unless called upon to help someone else's endevours.Peace. xx

Hi Jojo,Are you intending to ask TLF to put your script on their list of approved biographies, on their website?

Hey, I prefer these quotes, they seem more relevant …“You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.” ... George W. Bush“Some people may be famous for creating a pencil sharpner. I`m famous for my tits.”... Katie Price“Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.”... Albert Einstein Love and Light to allxxx

Thanks FrankAmazon put this out on all books that are registered with Waterstones etc, they don't consult publishers or anything, just decide on a discount and put it up, followed by this sort of message when the publisher decides not to play ball.As the book seems to be selling nicely in the retail outlets in Devon and around the Country via The Plymouth Branch of Waterstones (01752 669898) and direct from me, I don't think it will ever be available on Amazon, certainly unlikely before Christmas.Hope that clarifies.xx

Oh great, well the publisher must have desided to put some of the copies I gave to him (as payment) up for sale. Glad it's all working out however confusing it is to me.

clarrification: The publisher sold the books I gave him (payment in kind) to Amazon a number of weeks ago. They jumped at them. However as they demand such a high percentage I won't be supplying them with any more until I am sure all the other retailers which are selling them have done all they can: consequently when Amazon have sold their 70 books there will be no more available from them.Hope that clarifies the mysetery. If you want to buy them from a website you can now order them starlightsparadise.com
