Currently the Executor is in the process of finally winding up the estate.

Not quite sure why you presented your points in this way Mr Weaver. Because you can? To provoke thought? Well… whatever. It is mildly irritating but, for what it's worth, the answers to your musings are to be found in the ways the Will was drawn up, the way Robert chose to live his life & also in the practices that are laid on executors when they administer wills. This executor, as we all know, had no cash & needed to be able to pay for stuff. As he had possession of the various objects he could chose either to sell or to borrow. He chose the former. Robert [unlike most established artists] didn't have a 'dealer'.
