And so they proudly hang their signed 'Lenkiewicz'on the wall for their friends to admire. They don't know the difference, they're not experts. The buyer knows,it was clearly stated in the listing.Such is the fickle nature of 'bling'allowing a fool and his money to be easily parted.Ripe for exploitation and fair enough too,in my opinion!

To combat fake selling on Ebay would it not be possible for two of you to set up Ebay accounts with which feedback would not be a problem, and then bid up a fake to huge amounts, and then refuse to complete?I imagine the seller would then have a problem avoiding Ebay commision which might put them of trying it again.I s this workable?

Sold for £2700.The genuine self portrait at Plymouth A.R.didn't make much more than that.Unbelievable considering the seller even said it by a follower.

I believe they are buying this type of work at small auctions or boot sales and faking them up as being by a master.Even though they cover themselves by casting doubt over provenence etc, somebody always buys them in the end.It really is money for old rope.

The seller makes it very plain that it may not be a 'Lenkiewicz'.What's the problem.

The problem is that there is easy money to be made on Ebay.A'Patrick Heron'that would have made thousands at auction, or more at a gallery, had it been genuine, sold for £770 yesterday. Why would anyone sell it that cheaply on Ebay if it was genuine?
