Sitting on the fence somewhat – is there not a certain amount of self interest in John’s suggestion – perhaps his paintings might not be selling so well currently and needs the extra exposure – not saying that is a good or bad thing – I certainly have been on the receiving end of emails from himself and other lenkiewicz students after they have spotted me bidding on ebay asking me to view their works – again not saying whether that is a good or bad thing.

I see Piran Bishop's prices on ebay have currently been super-inflated (in my opinion) and are now all currently sold on the basis that he is an ex-pupil.

In my opinion good art speaks for itself and stands out on its own - it does not need to associate with its peers to get recognition - if it stands up - people will salute it.

Controversial im sure - but hey! I'm back

Yes – I too got fobbed off – funny thing is the signatures are spelt lenkewicz – missing an ‘i’ – wonder if the bidder is the seller.

Also I see there are more open ended prints doint the rounds - I challenged her these are mounted flyers and again the seller swears she got them personally from Robert!

6 bids already on the anna one - will people never learn - ps I have a lock of roberts hair if anyone wants to pay for it - with DNA testing certificate by Colin O Nelson.

    I agree with you Jack.

Although if anyone has one to swap I can let you have a signed copy of the Sothebys auction brochure (yet to marketed by the Lenkiewicz foundation 😆 )

Back from honeymoon now and have as always been keeping a careful eye on ebay!

With regards to naming and shaming, I think tuscan that the amount of time you have waited for the poster is less than a week and it is far too early to judge a seller on this.

I recently sold over 1000 rare jazz cds through ebay and in some cases cds were posted 10 days after receiveing cheque - i was after all on honeymoon with no email access.

Give it 14 days if not then take the complaint through the official channels of ebay.

There are and will always be fakes doing the rounds - Dave, Freded and I were all on the receiving end of 'open ended prints' from what we considered a reputable seller on ebay - we all know his moniker!

However, you should wait a while - delays occur in the post, people could be ill or away on business. As regards to fakes - it would be pointless faking an 'evening with' poster as they only sell for £10-£15 anyway - as opposed to the painter with women which Dave and I and others got shafted for £50 each 👿

I enjoyed using this site at first as a way to find out more about roberts paintings and works I was unfamiliar with. i think Dave has done a commendable job – however, others have really runied this site – you know who you are.

If I want to visit sites with gossip, legal wrangels and petty squabbles I can go elsewhere.

Yes Robert's life undoubtedly contained all of the baove, but the appreciation for most members here was to talk about and observe his work.

Hopefully the site can go back to what it was intended as ...'clebrating the life and work' - not dissecting it, slagginf off the Foundation and insulting each other in a private arena.

This is aimed at the minority who have runied the appeal of this site for me - ps has anyone thought what an apt name tom tit is? Whoops sorry, thought i was in the playground again being here 👿

OK – here it is – Im getting married on Jan 28th and have a few debts to settle. Im prepared to sell this set – unread Mary notebook in mint condition signed with certificate with the deluxe framed Mary Pri8nt (and double mount).

Will make a loss on this and sell for £850 - no offers - collection is accepted.

In bookfayres defence – I know they are a reputable agency because I bought the Mary notebook and print off of ebay from them some time back and they asked me to collect from New St Gallery.

I was very happy - however, theyve been bumped and it may be more than coincidence that a 'plymouth gallery' repeatedly bid on its items. Ebay very rarely get these things wrong - in my opinion inflation by multiple biddings is WRONG - as is KNOWINGLY selling fake items.

Its a shem both of these things fall into the Lenkiwicz trade - I regularly sell and buy rare jazz and designer clothing and never once have i been sold a fake or artificially paid to what seems like a multiple persona bidder

Yes – I didnt want to say but voiced my suspicions to Dave weeks ago. Bookfayre items were always bid on (but not won) by a seller called plymouth gallery (0 feedback) to bump up prices. As bookfayre is a plymouth gallery guess someone spotted the similarity.

Would feel pissed off if I bought an item from Bookfayre on ebay - you might have paid an artificially inflated price 😡

Yes – unfortunately my account was suspended – I was selling some Grateful Dead bootleg CDs – which the Grateful Dead organisation informed ebay should not be sold – I said these were commerically obtained from a high street store and refused to take off. However, my account has thus been suspended.

That's fine - as my wife trades on ebay and I now sell my stuff through her.

Re: bookfayre I made an observation to Dave Goodwin about this seller the other day - maybe that was what made his account suspended - I dont know if Dave thinks my suspicions should be aired in a public forum.

However I also bought mary notebook and print from bookfayre aka White Lane (NEW ST) gallery on the barbican and all was fine!

Yes I agree the landscapes were bad – however the moi print looks unfinished and washed out – no detail in the faces or textures – unlike the earlier prints – particularly fools caps which is my masterpiece for me – see masterpiece thread.

This and the mental handicap project far surpassed the lesser 'with women' efforts - which i was told by a certain gallery in plymouth - robert had little time for he painted a lot of the women stuff purely for commercial gain

Am unsure as to why Robert should be embarassed by it? I thought it was wonderful – it alwys held this feeling of mystery to me looking at it as a 4 year old on the barbican
